This Wilderness First Aid course is designed for people who spend time in the wilderness and encounter the associated risks. While the types of illnesses and injuries addressed are similar to Basic First Aid, more advanced and improvised techniques are taught allowing participants to manage environmental hazards and the expected delay in reaching hospital care.
This First Aid course is designed to teach participants to prevent, recognize, and treat the following illnesses and injuries:
Soft tissue injuries such as cuts, abrasions, and impaled objects
Eye and Facial injuries
Severe allergic reactions

Hypothermia, Heat exhaustion and Heat stroke
Infections/Long-term wound care
Dressing for survival
This course uses real-life scenarios to dramatize illnesses and injuries. It also allows the participants to repeatedly practice in a simulated stressful situation and therefore integrate the skills learned during the classroom format.
